Lagos Local Government Poll Witnesses Low Turnout

Several reports across Lagos State indicated a low turnout in the ongoing local government election.
Voters across the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) refused to come out to exercise their franchise.
Our correspondent observed few voters at polling units while some youths converted major roads to football pitches.
At Ile Epo by the Lagos-Abeokuta Express, Agege, Iyana Ipaja, among others, few voters were seen at polling units as people came one after the other to cast their vote.
When our correspondent visited PU083 Ward 10, Alimosho Area, Agbado Oke-Odo at Sunday Omotosho Street,  only one voter was seen on the queue.
A voter, who spoke with our correspondent, said people are not happy to come out to vote.
“The situation of the country is not palatable at all. More so, people don’t believe in the local government election,” he said.
At Adeyefa Street, Iyana Ipaja, six voters were seen on the queue as of 10:00  am.
Similarly at Ile Epo, some party agents complained about the logistics of the election and said the preparation by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) was nothing to write home about.
