A security guard with Greater Scholars International School, Ajah, Lagos State, David James, has been remanded for allegedly defiling a four-year-old pupil of the school.

The 23-year-old school guard, who allegedly defiled the minor under the guise of cleaning her up, was arraigned before Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi of Magistrate’s Court 1, Ogba, on Friday, on one count of sexual assault.

David was arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command, who brought an application for the guard to be remanded.

The parents of the child, Mr and Mrs Olusola, during a protest at the school gate on Thursday, called on the state government to shut down the school over its alleged negligence.

The mother of the minor, Leah, had said her child had not been the same since the incident, which occurred on April 27, 2023.

Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the father of the victim, Dami, said the family was happy that the suspect was remanded.
