“Like a Bus Conductor!” – Atiku Mocks Wike over Frequent visits to Aso Rock
The camp representing Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reacted to the regular visits of former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike to Aso Rock, the Nigerian presidential villa.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that since the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu on May 29, the former governor has been a frequent visitor to the Villa.
On his most recent visit, Wike was accompanied by his camp, known as the G5. This group, which is a faction of the opposition PDP, paid a visit to President Tinubu on Thursday.
According to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who spoke on behalf of the G5 members after a private meeting with President Tinubu, they met with the President to express their unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, justice, and equity.
The delegation included former governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuwanyi of Enugu, and Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
“Nation-building is a challenging task that requires constant self-reflection to ensure we are on the right track,” stated Governor Makinde.
“Therefore, we deemed it necessary to meet with the President and convey our unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, justice, and equity. Our position remains unchanged.”
When questioned about the group’s future plans, Governor Makinde responded confidently, saying, “We are firmly moving forward, with the hope that Mr. President will join us in the journey toward upholding fairness, justice, and equity in Nigeria.”
The G5 group is known to have actively supported Tinubu during the presidential election held in February.
It is believed that their frequent visits to Aso Rock are motivated by their desire to secure positions in the new federal government as a result of their efforts in undermining the chances of their party, the PDP’s candidate, in the recently concluded presidential election, which led to Tinubu’s victory.
In response, Daniel Bwala, Atiku’s campaign spokesman, remarked that there is a former PDP governor who visits the Presidential Villa daily, likening him to a bus conductor.
It is presumed that Bwala was referring to Nyesom Wike.
Taking to Twitter, Bwala wrote, “There is a former governor of the PDP that frequents the Presidential Villa daily like a bus conductor. He will soon infect the administration with his toxic equity, fairness, and justice poison.”
