‘Love of my life,’ Obama celebrates wife on birthday amid divorce rumours
Former President Barack Obama took to social media on Friday to celebrate his wife, Michelle Obama, on her 61st birthday, referring to her as “the love of my life.”
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Obama praised the former first lady, saying, “You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace – and you look good doing it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life’s adventures with you. Love you!”
Michelle later shared the tribute, adding her own caption, “Love you, honey!” accompanied by a heart emoji and a face blowing a kiss emoji.
Michelle Obama, who has kept a low public profile in recent weeks, will not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
She also did not make an appearance at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral last week.
According to sources cited by People, Michelle’s absence at Trump’s inauguration stems from her “disdain for the Republican president-elect.”
While Michelle will not be present, former President Obama is expected to attend the event alongside former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, as well as their spouses.
The birthday celebration and upcoming inauguration come amid unconfirmed rumours from late last year about the Obamas’ marriage.
Speculation suggested a rocky relationship and alleged ties between Barack Obama and actress Jennifer Aniston.
Aniston dismissed the claims during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, stating, “That is absolutely untrue. … I know Michelle more than him.”
