Man kills neighbour’s ‘noisy’ dog, cooks it and invites owner to come and eat

A savage South Korean farmer killed and cooked his neighbour’s dog, then invited its unsuspecting owner to join him for a dog-meat dinner.

The 62-year-old unnamed man confessed to the crime after another neighbour tipped off the pet owner’s family. The farmer claimed he was so irritated by the dog’s constant barking, so he threw a stone at the two-year-old Welsh Corgi and it lost consciousness.

He said that after the animal passed out, he strangled it and cooked it. He then invited his neighbours who owned the dog to come for dinner, which, unknown to them, comprised of their dog.

The case came to light when a daughter of the family this week published an online plea calling for public support to ensure that the offender be punished sternly. A petition has so far gained almost 15,000 signatures.

“We had been all around the town, handing out leaflets containing the dog’s picture, phone number and rewards of one million won ($940), in order to find the missing dog”, the daughter told AFP by phone, asking for her family’s name to be kept anonymous.

The daughter said when she reached the farmer’s house to hand out the leaflet, he expressed sympathy and promised to let them know if he found the dog. However, he was hiding the animal. The next day, the suspect visited her father, drank with him and consoled him over the missing dog.

“He even invited neighbours to come share the dog meat, including my father who did not accept the invitation as he is a non-dog meat eater”, she said.

The farmer’s action has sparked online outrage, with people calling for his prosecution.
