Man registers for UTME at age 94

A 94-year-old man has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The nonagenarian, identified as Adedapo Idowu, featured on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s latest bulletin publication.

In the publication, the 94-year-old said his fears of acquiring tertiary education have now been dispelled.

“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” he said.

He said the process of his UTME registration was seamless.

Idowu commended the board’s integration of National Identity Number (NIN) for easy data collection.

He said the decision helped in eradicating the discrimination against the old, the underprivileged, and people with disabilities.

Idowu said the registration staff gave him “a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue.”

The nonagenarian urged the board to ensure that the process is maintained to achieve continuous success.

He stated that his interaction with the board has given him the confidence to go into the examination for ultimate success.

Idowu advised other candidates to uphold the importance of professionalism and contentment in their journey in life.

The 2025 UTME registration started on January 31.

Last week, JAMB revealed that over 700,000 candidates have registered, including 11,000 underage applicants.(The Cable)
