The profile of the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has been gleaned after her emergence on Monday.

Meranda became Speaker after the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa by his colleagues during the House plenary on Monday.

She was born to the family of late Chief Lawal Akapo, the Ojora of Lagos, and Princess M. A. Lawal-Akapo of the royal families of Ojora, Aromire, Onitana, Oloto, and Oniru.

She is a sibling to the Oniru of Irulaland, Oba Gbolhan Lawal, who eulogised her after she emerged as the Speaker.

Meranda had her primary education at St. Charles Nursery and Primary School and later at Randle Primary School.

She attended Anglican Girls Grammar School and Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, both in Surulere, where she held the posts of Library Prefect and Secretary of the Press Club.

The representative of Apapa Constituency 1 Meranda earned a degree in Public Administration from the Lagos State University in 2013 and pursued further studies at the University of Lagos.

She worked as a Personal Assistant in the Lagos State Government and held positions in the private sector, including as a Procurement Manager at Cirrus Nigeria Limited.
