Meghan Markle gave birth to the royal baby and fans were celebrating the arrival of the new royal baby. Debates have remained heated surrounding what the royal couple’s first child would be called, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter has argued that the pair may choose a name that has ties to both UK and US history.
She argued that the royal baby may be called Eleanor, Rose or Alice if a girl is born or possibly Alexander if the baby is a boy.

While speaking to CBS the royal expert said: “I don’t have an inside track on the actual name but I think when it comes to names we are looking at a very strong name because that is who Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are.

“But I also think we are going to see a name that works on both sides of the pond.

“For example, something like Eleanor, Eleanor of Aquitaine was a 12th-century queen, she was highly influential and well respected.

“Eleanor Roosevelt fought for political, social and racial justice so that is a very strong figure.

“Alice Walker who wrote the Colour Purple and won the Pulitzer for the book.

“Alice is, of course, a longheld family name within the Royal Family.

“Then we have names like Rose, Doria, Meghan’s mother calls her flower, you have England’s rose, Princess Diana as Elton John solidified her as that.

“That is for the girls, when we come to boys Alexandra is the Queen’s middle name, Alexander is the masculine form.

“Alexander Hamilton is one of the founding fathers in the US.

“So I think there are a lot of names here that work with the British Royal Family tree but also have strong roots in the US.”

Many anticipating were camped outside Windsor castle in the hope they are the first to hear of any new updates regarding Meghan Markle and the baby of Sussex.

Meghan Markle gave birth to a boy on Monday morning but Prince Harry revealed that the royal couple were yet to come up with a name.

Many have speculated that the child will have an unusual name that will break with royal tradition.

But expert Amy Jones, from major betting agency Paddy Power, told Sky News that their most popular bet was actually ‘Alexander’.

She explained that, whilst James was a second favourite, Alexander had trumped it.

Ms Jones said: “What we’re seeing the most bets on is Alexander.

“So since the news broke that the baby was a boy, Alexander’s been the most popular.

“And I personally think that’s probably because there’s a US link there with Alexander Hamilton.

“And, of course, the Queen’s middle name is Alexandra.

“And I think our betters like when there’s a little bit of meaning behind what they’re betting on.

“I think it has that link between the US and the UK.” (Daily Express)
