Information reaching us indicate that Senator Dino Melaye was handcuffed to his hospital bed as police officers relocate him to the National Hospital, Abuja, where he is currently recuperating, Independent reports.

The lawmaker was re-arrested at Zankli hospital Mabushi in Abuja, after over 30 armed officers led by the Police Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood surrounded the premises of the hospital.

However, unconfirmed report said the doctor who treated Melaye at Zankli hospital was also arrested by the police.

Reports said the doctor told the police that the senator had a spinal cord injury.

Melaye was rushed to Zankli hospital on Tuesday after he allegedly jumped off a moving police vehicle enroute Lokoja.

The senator was later seen wheeled on a stretcher into the emergency ward of the hospital after an ambulance brought him to the premises.

Meanwhile, some senators who came to visit Melaye were refused access by police officers.

Reports said armed security operatives have been stationed in and around the trauma centre of the hospital.
