Nigeria’s leading indigenous smart meter manufacturers, Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMMCOL) has emerged the winner of the ‘Made in Nigeria Product of the Year Award’ for its outstanding contribution in the area of local content in the power sector at the prestigious Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) awards held in Lagos recently.
According to the Director Advocacy & Research, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI), Dr. Vincent Nwani the award was bestowed on MEMMCOL by LCCI in recognition of its quality service, standard and best practice in electricity meter manufacturing.
“I am delighted that MEMMCOL has emerged as the winner of the ‘Award for Made in Nigeria Product of the Year’. This award is the outcome of a painstaking selection process from numerous entries received for this award category and backed by feedbacks from industry / market intelligence’’ he said.
Speaking on the award, the Chairman, Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMMCOL), Engineer Kola Balogun described the recognition as a big inspiration poised to drive the company better in its pursuit of excellence not only in manufacturing of world-class quality smart meters but also in pushing the limit for local content.
Balogun stated that the recognition is a confirmation of the quality and standard of meters being produced by the company noting that it will not relent in its effort to contribute to the development of the power sector in Nigeria.
He expressed profound appreciation to the LCCI team for recognizing its role and contribution to national development in the critical power sector/energy.
He said” We are indeed honoured and happy to have been recognized by a big institution like LCCI. It is a great delight to receive this award. It only shows that our effort to economic growth is recognized and appreciated. As an organization, we do not take this recognition for granted and we believe this can only serve as a great incentive that would propel us into making huge investment going forward”.
In his own remarks, Director General, LCCI, Mr. Muda Yusuf noted that the recognition comes as an outcome of painstaking selection process from numerous entries received for the award category and backed by feedback from industry market intelligence.
He explained that MEMMCOL was worthy of the honour in view of its unrelenting commitment to local content which is clearly evident in the number of Nigerians in its work force and the investment in local resources for the manufacturing of the meters
MEMMCOL has put Nigeria in the league of technological advancement countries through its huge investment in electricity meter manufacturing.
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry introduced the Chamber Awards in 2014 to recognize, promote and celebrate private and public institutions operating in Nigeria for best business practices, growth through innovations, business sustainability and positive impact on the people/Society.
