Boxing champion Anthony Joshua has named his top three heavyweights of all time which includes American boxing legend, Muhammad Ali.
The British boxer who was a guest on British television series Top Gear, did not hesitate to mention his favorites when he was asked.
Joshua described Ali as the ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ and the most significant and celebrated sports figure of the 20th century.
“Muhammad Ali! There was a civil rights movement happening in America. So, he uses the platform to preach to a wider audience about the issues and pressure that his community was facing and took it to a global stage.
“He passed the legendary status and became as icon of the sport.”
“Jack Johnson, because of the era he was in, the adversities he had to overcome and he was the best,” came the reply from Joshua, as he disclosed the first name in his favourites list.
After retaining the WBA[Super], IBF, IBO and WBO titles, Joshua is aiming to reach the zenith in the heavyweight division as he plans to unify the belts, with the WBC title the only one that eludes him – currently in possession of Deontay Wilder.
Continuing the discussion further, the 29-year-old said: “Thirdly, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, for me. When I went to boxing, fall in love with it and then when I looked at Iron Mike, he was a kid from Brooklyn, went through a lot of issues at a young age. I read his book.”
