The shocking story behind the tragic, gruesome killing of the son of former Chief of Naval Staff, II Ibrahim, in Abuja has finally been revealed.

In a stunning confession, a naval attaché to the family has admitted to the brutal murder of the son of a former naval chief, a case that had left many baffled.

The naval official, Seaman Abdulrasheed Muhammed, is now in the custody of the FCT police command.

Speaking to The Guardian, 30-year-old Abdulrasheed Muhammed from Kaduna State noted that he intended to kill the young man and sell his Prado Jeep to start a new life.

His words: “My intention was to kill him and run away with the Jeep in order to sell it. I shot him with the service gun with me, an AK-47. Although, I now regret my actions.”

According to the Commissioner of Police, on August 23, 2024, during a routine stop and search operation, police operatives from the FCT command accosted one Abdulrasheed Muhammad in a black-coloured Prado SUV.

“During questioning, the suspect could not give a satisfactory explanation as to how he came about the vehicle,” he said.

“Police operatives took him into custody, and preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a Seaman of the Nigerian Navy on guard duty at the residence of a retired naval officer, and the vehicle belongs to the late Aminu Ibrahim (the son of the late Admiral I. Ibrahim, a former Chief of Naval Staff), who was killed and his Prado SUV snatched on August 18, 2024, at River Benue Street, Maitama.

“While in custody, the suspect attempted to escape from police custody but was promptly rearrested. The suspect freely confessed to being a member of a three-man gang who specialise in armed robbery/snatching of luxury vehicles and selling them off outside the FCT.

“They have carried out three operations successfully so far. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining three gang members currently at large.”(Guardian)
