N1.3bn Fraud: EFCC Detains VON DG, Okechukwu
The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, was detained Saturday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a case of conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N1.3billion.
It was learnt that the VON boss, who arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Abuja at about 1:32pm to honour an invitation, was quizzed by the crack detectives of the commission.
The spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed his detention to Daily Trust on Sunday last night. He was still being detained as of 10:30pm.
When asked whether he would be released Saturday night, Uwujaren declined further comments.
