Naomi Osaka Pens ‘Seven-Figure’ Louis Vuitton Deal
Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has been unveiled as a brand ambassador for French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
The financial terms of the agreement were not made public, but The Action Network’s Darren Rovell described it as a ‘seven-figure’ deal.
As part of the arrangement, the three-time Grand Slam winner, who is currently ranked third in the world, will feature in Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2021 campaign by designer Nicolas Ghesquière.
Osaka, who was named as one of SportsPro’s ten influencers for 2021, said: “Aside from tennis, my most treasured passion is fashion; and there is no brand more iconic than Louis Vuitton.”
The sponsorship comes on the back of an eventful 2020 for Osaka, who on her way to winning the US Open was widely praised for her support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement during the tournament.
Last year also saw Osaka surpass Serena Williams as the world’s highest-paid female athlete, according to Forbes, which estimates that the 23-year-old earns some US$34 million from endorsement deals with the likes of Nike, Mastercard and Nissin, among others. (AFP)
