One of the biggest Game of Thrones shockers that left us desperate to know what’ll happen next was the reveal that Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are actually aunt and nephew. We saw through Bran Stark that Jon’s mother was actually Lyanna Stark, Ned Stark’s sister, and that his father was Rhaegar Targaryen. But a new fan theory suggests there could be yet another secret Targaryen.

The theory is kind of reminiscent of Star Wars, as it suggests there is another secret Targaryen in the form of Jon’s twin sister, who is just as much in the dark about her heritage as her brother is.

The theory, brought forth by Redditor MikeTysonsLifeCoach, says that Lyanna had twins the day Ned found her in the tower. While Ned took Jon to raise him, she gave her daughter to Howland Reed, who was raised as Meera Reed. The evidence that backs this up is that both Jon and Meera were born in the same year, and while Meera was brought up by Howland, the whereabouts of her mother are still a mystery.

The pair also have similar features, as both are pale and have long dark hair. But while Meera’s eyes don’t match the Targaryen color nor Jon’s, the Crannogmen are known for being able to disguise themselves, so perhaps that’s what Meera’s father did to protect her.

Other proof that Howland took in Lyanna’s daughter comes from the fact that Howland owed her a great debt. She countlessly defended him and saved him during the Tourney at Harrenhal. Howland, like Ned, would have certainly felt obliged to take in the infant and protect her at all costs.

While this theory is sort of a long shot, there is a lot of evidence in its favor. Plus, it would be an epic twist the final season needs. Thrones returns for the last time on April 14.  (Floor8)
