Nigeria Immigration Service names command and control center after Tinubu
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has honoured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by naming its newly inaugurated Command and Control Center in Abuja the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex.
The announcement was made by the Controller General of the NIS, Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, during the facility’s commissioning on December 12, 2024, by President Tinubu.
Mrs. Nandap described the cutting-edge facility as a leap forward in modernizing Nigeria’s immigration systems, emphasizing its role in enhancing border security, migration management, and overall national security.
She said the project was certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and integrated with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Key features of the facility include a Command-and-Control Center for Regular Migration, a Data Center, a Visa Approval Center, and a Passport Personalization Center.
It also houses the ECOWAS National Biometric Identity Card Center and a solar-powered farm.
Highlighting its technological capabilities, Mrs. Nandap detailed the facility’s advanced systems for monitoring passenger data, detecting suspicious travel patterns, and integrating communications across various security platforms.
She said the complex also supports real-time video surveillance for unmanned border areas and cross-references data with national and international security watchlists, including INTERPOL databases.
