Nigerian Army identify terrorists’ position in Sambisa forest


The Nigerian Army said it has identified positions inhabited by terrorists in the popular and dreaded Sambisa Forest.

The Army in a post on X, said the terrorists’ camp was located during an ongoing effort by troops of Operation Hadin Kai to rid the area of terrorist activities.

According to the post, the clearance operation with an aerial reconnaissance was carried out by the troops in Garin Baaba on Wednesday, May 13, 2025.

“A subsequent encounter resulted in the neutralization of several Boko Haram terrorists.

“During the operation, troops recovered and destroyed various arms and ammunition, including: Bomb containers intended for Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) Pressure plates,” the Army wrote.

In addition to the recovery made by the troops, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team safely detonated the explosive materials on-site.

“Clearance operations in the area are ongoing,” the Army added.
