Nigerian soldiers kill bandits leader, three others in Kaduna state
Soldiers attached to Operation Whirl Punch, conducting operations in the North-West zone, have eliminated four bandits, among them the notorious Dongon Bangaje, during fighting patrols in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a statement by Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the operation commenced with a special fighting patrol at Tumburku village over the weekend, followed by a projection to Sabon Sara, both located in Giwa LGA.
He said acting on credible intelligence, the troops spotted bandits fleeing Sabon Sara and engaged them in a hot pursuit.
”During the operation, two bandits were killed, and a cache of items including a motorcycle, a mobile phone, gas lighters, tobacco, assorted charms, and a polythene bag containing petrol were recovered,” he stated.
His words: ”In a separate operation at Basurfe village, South-West of Kindandan, troops encountered an ambush but successfully neutralized two other bandits.
”Additionally, a camp serving as a treatment area for the insurgents was dismantled.
”Recoveries from the Basurfe operation included two AK-47 rifles, one pump action rifle, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two radios, and one motorcycle. Cigarettes, drugs, and medical accessories were also seized.
”Among those killed in the operations was a notorious bandit leader known as Dogo Bangaje, along with a close associate yet to be identified, as per the security report.”
