First Bank says cardholders carried out transactions worth N1.18 trillion during the period of the lockdown.

Adesola Adeduntan, chief executive officer of the bank, said cardholders carried out 105 million transactions during the lockdown.

According to Adeduntan, the bank’s 53,000 agents processed transactions worth N512 billion with differing values during the coronavirus lockdown.

He added that approximately 12.6 million withdrawals to the tune of N156 billion were carried out across First Bank’s ATMs nationwide.

“Our customers made transfers over 106 million times with a total value of about N8.18 trillion across our digital channels,” BusinessDay quoted him to have said.

“We have also recorded over 275,000 new sign-ups to alternative channels covering our Firstmobile, unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) and First-Online platforms.”

The CEO said the figures were a testament to the bank’s ability to support her customers and their businesses during challenging times.

Adeduntun assured existing customers of the bank’s relentless efforts to ensure that banking transactions continue seamlessly, adding that COVID-19 pandemic will not slow down her activities and efforts at staying true to her brand promise to her customers.

In an earlier statement, the bank had announced that it now had 9.5 million subscribers on its *894# USSD platform and quick banking service platforms. (The Cable)
