Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, says no politician has succeeded in court since 1979 in a presidential petition case in Nigeria.
According to Galadima, the presidential candidates of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar respectively, in the 2023 election are only wasting time and resources at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Galadima who made this known on Thursday during an interview on Channels TV’s current affairs programme, Political Paradigm, said the duo should not expect any positive outcome from the tribunal.
He, however, called for the sacking of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmud Yakubu, whom he accused of subverting the will of Nigerians during the last presidential election.
According to him, Yakubu did worse than the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, who caused a cash crisis with the apex bank’s Naira redesign/swap policy.
He said, “Which politician has succeeded in court since 1979 in Nigeria in a presidential petition case? Why waste our N10 billion or N15 billion because we heard some people are spending such billions; If we had such money, we would use it to prepare for the 2027 general election.
“The NNPP is strong, we did not do well because the registration of the party came late. But for INEC targeting us and our candidates’ names and logo was omitted in some states, we could have performed better.”
“The INEC chairman must go, what he did is not up to what Godwin Emefiele did. He colluded with some people to subvert the will of Nigerians. He committed the greatest crime anybody will commit.
Obi and Atiku are currently challenging the victory of Tinubu in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Tinubu won the presidential election and Atiku and Obi came second and third respectively. (SaharaReporters)
