Northern youths hail Tinubu for honouring Buhari with dignity
The Northern Youth Frontiers (NYF) commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday for his exemplary leadership and deep sense of national unity demonstrated during the funeral arrangements of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The NYF also welcomed President Tinubu’s directive for the national flag to be flown at half-mast for seven days, along with the declaration of a one-day national holiday in honour of Buhari.
In a statement by the National Coordinator of NYF, Sama Musa, the group praised President Tinubu for conducting the late president’s final journey with dignity and respect, noting that it reflected the profound regard Buhari commanded and the strength of Nigeria’s unity during difficult times.
He urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from Buhari’s vision for a better Nigeria and his belief in the nation’s potential.
Musa said, “The passing of Muhammadu Buhari marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s history. As a leader, he devoted his life to the service of our great nation, advocating for peace, security, and economic development.
“His tenure was characterised by a commitment to fighting corruption, enhancing national security, and promoting infrastructural growth. Buhari’s virtues of integrity, resilience, and dedication to public service have left an indelible mark on the hearts of Nigerians and will continue to inspire future generations.
“In this solemn time, President Tinubu’s decision to delegate a high-powered group under the esteemed leadership of Vice President Kashim Shettima to oversee the protocol for transporting the body of our late President from London to Daura is a testament to his leadership acumen.
“This delegation not only ensured that the logistics were handled with the utmost respect and efficiency but also exemplified the collaborative spirit that is essential for a nation to heal and unite in mourning.
“President Tinubu’s decision to order the national flag to fly at half-mast for seven days, alongside the declaration of a one-day national holiday in honour of former President Buhari, reflects a profound commitment to national unity and collective mourning.
“This gesture not only signifies respect for Buhari’s contributions to the nation but also serves to engage the entire populace in a shared moment of reflection. By fostering a sense of solidarity during this period of grief, Tinubu underscores the importance of collective memory in shaping Nigeria’s political and social landscape, while reinforcing the values of respect and remembrance within the nation’s consciousness.
“As we reflect on the life and contributions of Muhammadu Buhari, we are reminded of his unwavering commitment to the Nigerian people. He was a leader who believed in the potential of our nation and worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of ordinary citizens.
“His vision for a prosperous Nigeria was rooted in his deep love for the country and its people. The Northern Youth Frontiers recognises the sacrifices he made, often at great personal cost, to ensure a better future for all Nigerians.”
He further emphasised the need for unity in honouring national leaders, irrespective of political or regional affiliations, applauding the solidarity shown during the mourning period.
The NYF coordinator also expressed unwavering support for President Tinubu and his administration as they guide the nation through this period of mourning, urging all citizens to uphold the principles that President Buhari championed.
Musa added, “In commemorating Buhari’s life, we also acknowledge the importance of unity in our national discourse. President Tinubu’s leadership during this time serves as a reminder that, regardless of our various affiliations.
“We must come together to honour those who have served our nation with dignity. The camaraderie displayed during this period is a reflection of our shared values and collective aspirations for a united Nigeria.
“The Northern Youth Frontiers stands in solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration as they navigate this period of national mourning.”
