Obidient movement react to claims Obi was tricked into coalition deal
The Obidient Movement has dismissed reports that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was deceived into joining the new opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
National Coordinator of the movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, described the allegation as a “lie from the pit of hell” and an attempt to cause confusion among Obi’s supporters.
“There is no iota of truth in that claim. Nobody deceived Peter Obi. If he has anything to say about the coalition, you will hear it from him or his aides,” Tanko said on Thursday.
Tanko added that Obi’s involvement in the alliance was in line with his long-held belief in collective responsibility to rescue Nigeria.
“Peter Obi has always said one person cannot do it alone. It has to be a joint effort to tackle poverty, education, healthcare, and economic challenges,” he said.
His response follows comments by Katchy Ononuju, a former aide to Obi, who alleged that the ex-governor was misled and sidelined in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential ticket.
The Obidient Movement insists it remains focused and will not be distracted by “false narratives.”
