Ogun police command gets new commissioner
The Ogun State Police Command has been assigned a new Commissioner, following recent promotions and posting effected by Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.
The Commissioner, Valentine Ntomchukwu, replaces his predecessor, Ikemefuna Okoye, who has been promoted as Assistant Inspector General of Police, now assigned to oversee Zone 11 headquartered in Osogbo, Osun State.
The new police boss on Wednesday resumed at the Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, and was received by the management the command led by his second-in-command, Haliru Gwandu.
The command’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said the new commissioner hails from Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State
Mr. Ntomchukwu was employed into the police as cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1984. He has B.Sc. in Political Science from the University of Maiduguri and Bachelor of Law from Lagos State University Lagos.
The police boss is said to be a vibrant and active officer, who was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police in 1992 and was the Divisional Police Officer in Abagana Division, Anambra State; Onikan, S/E Ikoyi, Lagos; Aguda, Surulere, Lagos and Trinity Division Lagos .
The new police boss was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2009 and was in charge of many offices including the Assistant Commissioner of police Administration in Oyo Command, Area Commander Owo, Ondo State, Area Commander Gboko in Benue State and Area Commander Area H, Lagos.
He later became a Deputy Commissioner of Police in 2009. A rank that availed him the status and opportunity of being in charge of many offices like the second-in-command in Benue, Kogi, Kaduna and Abuja before he was promoted Commissioner of Police in 2014
He is also a member of many professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association and International Association of Chiefs of Police, USA. He has attended many professional courses both within and outside the country, and is currently a Fellow of Security Institute.
The statement said Mr. Ntomchukwu is a seasoned, astute and proactive police officer who believes in multi-agency collaboration and robust intelligence and community-based policing. (Premium Times)
