Oluwo may not attend own wedding, says Aide

Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, may not attend his wedding to Fridauz Abdullahi in Kano.

According to PUNCH, Alli Ibraheem, press secretary to the Osun state monarch, said he may not travel to Kano for the wedding.

On Tuesday, Oluwo had announced the wedding in an Instagram post while sharing the invitation card.

The monarch had described his wife-to-be as “a morally upright princess becoming a queen”.

“History made: Royalty weds royalty. A great wife, matrimonial material and morally upright princes becoming a queen,” he had written.

“The glory is not only mine alone. It belongs to all of us who trust in our ways, an undiluted monarchy that resigns only to God, The creator.

“We reference God for everything. Alase lori orisa 1 Arole olodumare 1 Paramount ruler of Iwoland.”

Reacting to the announcement, Ibraheem said the wife will be brought to the monarch in Iwo after the wedding.

He also urged that people shouldn’t be worried about Oluwo’s absence.

“Baba is not likely to be there (in Kano) as a paramount ruler. They will bring the wife to him Iwo. There is no cause for alarm,” the press secretary said.

Oluwo was previously married to Chanel Chin, a Jamaican woman. The union, however, hit the rocks in 2019.

The monarch had earlier debunked a claim that he asked Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun state, for N20 million to finance his forthcoming wedding.
