Once Kano Assembly passes bill splitting Kano emirate, I will sign it – Ganduje
The bill seeks to break the Kano emirate into four so each would have first-class monarchs.
Daily Trust reports that Ganduje made the promise on Wednesday, May 8, during a media briefing just before the commencement of the 136th state executive council meeting.
The meeting was held at the council chamber in Government House, Kano.
“We heard about a bill sent to the state House of Assembly, requesting them to make a law for the creation of four more Emirs in Kano.
“We believe the petitioners did it in good faith. And they want the development of the state,” she said.
Ganduje said he hoped the legislative arm would work on the bill and forward it to him for assent so he could sign it without a waste of time.
“That is the popular wish of our people. This will also go a long way in hastening growth and development for the state,” he added.
The governor noted that the agitation for the creation of four emirates started a long time ago.
“With the creation of more emirates, all sectors of the society would improve,” he said.
