…Gov out to unite party members- Cps
A Socio- Political group, in the All Progressive Congress, the Akoko Progressive Movement APM, in Ondo state, has kicked against some appointments made by the state governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The group, accused the governor of rewarding individuals who worked against the party in the 2023 general elections.
A statement from the group’s Director of Media, Seye Johnson, specifically criticized the appointments of a Special Adviser for Special Duties and Strategy, and a Commissioner from the area.
The group criticised the governor for appointing the two alleged to openly campaigned against the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in the Akoko North-West/Akoko Northeast House of Representatives election in 2023.
Also, the APC Local Government Executives and all ten ward chairmen in Akoko North West have rejected the appointments.
They said that one of the appointees was suspended by his ward for anti-party activities.
In a communique issued by the APC local government Chairman, Hon Kehinde Obanla and its Secretary, Comrade Bola Salami, they accused the appointee of working against the party candidate, Hon Ife Ehindero during the recent Akoko North West/Akoko North East House of Representatives bye-election.
” The appointee is regarded as an opposition figure in the APC from Akoko North West Local Government.
” He is not a loyal and faithful party Member of All Progressives Congress Party (APC) in Akoko North West.
“The governors appointee is not fully recognized by the majority members of APC in Akoko North West in conjunction with Local Government APC Executives and other Ward Chairmen.
“He is in anyway never contributed to the progress and for the development of APC Party in Akoko North West.
“He believes so much in anti-party activities just to have his ways in politics; his usual practices in Akoko North West.
“In the last General Election, he was involved so much in anti-party activities against the APC party in Akoko North West.
“Also, in the just concluded Federal House of Representative Bye election in our Federal Constituency, he deliberately and openly worked against the APC Candidate; Hon Ifeoluwa Ehindero and committed greatly to PDP candidate to emerge.
“To this end, a copy of the suspension letter had been received from his Ward (Ajowa/Eriti/Igedegede Ward 5 as well as a rejection letter to his appointment to show that he is not a qualified loyal party Member for the job”.

In a swift reaction, the chief Press Secretary to governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the governor Aiyedatiwa “remain a unifying factor within the party in the state.
Adeniyan said, “There will always be internal wrangling in any major political party. There will always be groups within a major party.
“Today, the Governor remains the unifying factor and rallying point for the government and the party and will bring everybody together, including those feuding within the party.
“What should be Paramount is the qualification and capacity of those appointed and so far none of those appointed by Mr. Governor has been questioned in those two areas.
He declared that “All sections of the party will be included in the scheme of things in the State.”
