One-Way Driving Now Attracts 3yrs Jail Term For Repeated Offenders In Lagos

 

 

 

 

 

Driving against traffic popularly known as ‘one-way driving’ now attracts a jail term of three years for repeated offenders, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said on Tuesday.

Sanwo-Olu said this at the launch of 300 First and Last Mile (FLM) mini-buses and commissioning of 100 high capacity buses to boost transportation system as well as enhance the security of lives and property of Lagosians.

The governor at the event, which held at the Lagos House, Ikeja threatened to enforce all the stipulations and prohibitions of the Road Traffic Law in the State, including driving against traffic.

First-time offenders according to the governor are liable to a one-year jail term in addition to their vehicle being forfeited to the government.

Hundreds of traffic offenders have had to forfeit their vehicles to the state government which were later auctioned out.
