Seun Kuti, the Afrobeats singer, has reacted to the drama that occurred between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

Smith had slapped Rock in the face on stage for making a joke about Jada Pinkett, his wife, while presenting an award.

In a series of posts via his Instagram page, the controversial singer said he would have teared up the event if he was the one slapped.

“Chris Rock is ten times the boy I ever was but as a man you slap me? Event is over. We are tearing it up! So, we getting slapped in public now by the leading blacks,” he wrote.

The musician also argued that the incident was a bad portrayal of the black community.

“That’s all the leading blacks want. To slap us and walk away while we hail them.”

Smith had apologised to Rock over his action. The actor said violence in all of its forms is “poisonous and destructive” and added his conduct was “inexcusable (The cable)
