Oshoala to join Al Hilal in a surprise transfer
Super Falcons star and Nigerian forward, Asisat Oshoala, is on the verge of completing a transfer from Bay FC in the United States to Saudi Women’s League side, Al Hilal.
According to The Athletic, the six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday to undergo her medical ahead of the deal, which was finalized before the close of the transfer window.
Oshoala, 30, was notably absent from Bay FC’s 2-1 loss to Angel City on Monday night, further fueling speculation around the imminent transfer.
“Bay FC and Al Hilal reached an agreement on an undisclosed transfer fee, and Oshoala is now in Saudi Arabia ahead of a medical scheduled for tonight (Monday),” the report stated.
Oshoala joined Bay FC in February 2024 from FC Barcelona Femení, making 38 appearances and scoring 8 goals for the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side. However, her role at the club has diminished in recent months.
A seasoned international, Oshoala has played in top leagues across Europe, Asia, and North America, representing clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Dalian Quanjian, and Barcelona.
She was also part of the Super Falcons squad that claimed a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco in July.
If the deal is completed, Oshoala will become one of the most high-profile women’s footballers to join the Saudi league, as the Kingdom continues to invest heavily in its women’s football development.
