Osimhen pays homage, receives hero’s welcome at Charleroi
Super Eagles and Lille striker Victor Osimhen is not one to forget those who helped him to rise in a hurry.
In what could pass for going back to his root to pay homage, the Nigerian international recently visited his former Belgian club Charleroi and got a rousing reception from management and fans alike.
Osimhen who has become a major hit posting impressing outings both at the club and national levels was full of appreciation to the club who according to him provided the needed ladder for him to climb to where he is today
“My dream to become the kind of player that I want to be started here” he enthused while hugging and blowing kisses towards appreciative club fans who were eager to give their former top finisher a pat on the back.
Osimhen who scored 19 goals in 34 appearances for the Belgian club before heading to France has practically scored in every outing for the Lille accumulating seven goals in nine appearances. His debut for the club appeared to indicate that he had come to do exploit as he began with a brace against Nantes in a tie that ended 2-1 in favour of Lille.
Since playing his way into the heart of the Super Eagles the 20 year old has become practically a must invite for Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr as he has often given his best either coming close to scoring or contributing in making it happen.
He was part of the Nigerian squad that played out a 1-1 draw against Brazil in Singapore last Sunday.
With the international friendlies over, he is set to get back on track in the French ligue 1 with an away tie against Toulouse on Saturday.
