Oyo COVID-19 cases rises to 233 — 143 from one company

The number of COVID-19 cases in Oyo state has risen to 233 out of which 143 are from iSON Xperiences, a company in Ibadan, the Oyo capital.

The company provides logistics for customer care services.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, said 30 new cases were recorded on Saturday and 27 were from the company.

Makinde said nine patients recovered from the disease and were discharged, putting the total recoveries at 58.

“Nine confirmed COVID-19 patients have received their second NEGATIVE test results and have been discharged. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to fifty-eight,” the governor tweeted.

“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty suspected cases came back POSITIVE. Twenty-seven cases are from iSON Xperiences and one each from Ibadan SW, Ibadan SE and Oluyole Local Govt Areas. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at 5.30PM today is 233.

Hamid Olaniyi, a member of staff of the company whose result came back negative, expressed gratitude to those who have stood by him.

With 233, Oyo has recorded the seventh highest number of COVID-19 in the country, according to figures provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).  (The Cable)
