Oyo, Lagos fix N2.9m, N3.2m as 2023 hajj fares
Set April 21 as deadline for payment
Oyo State has urged Muslim pilgrims in the state to pay N2.99 million as 2023 hajj fare instead of N2.6 million that was originally fixed. Chairman of Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare’s Board (Muslim Wing), Prof. Sayed Tunde Malik, disclosed this, yesterday, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.
The board, however, urged intending pilgrims who had made the initial deposit of N2.6 million to pay the balance of N399,000 on or before Monday, April 17, 2023.
It also fixed Friday, April 21, 2023, as deadline for final payment of the money by all intending pilgrims. The board advised them to make use of the limited time to complete their payment to any of the designated bank accounts of the board.
Malik also urged all prospective pilgrims, who have completed their payment to immediately come and submit their International Passports at the Hajj Camp Office of the Board at Olodo in Ibadan for the travel processing.
SIMILARLY, Lagos State has approved N3.2 million as fare to be paid by intending pilgrims for the hajj.
This was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, during an important meeting held with the intending pilgrims and other stakeholders at the Shamsi Adisa Thomas (SAT) Mosque, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
Elegushi said that the breakdown of the total package as announced by NAHCON included hotel accommodation, cost of airline and Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), among others.
He, therefore, urged intending pilgrims, who had initially deposited N2,640,000 to commence payment of N560,000 as balance on or before April 21, 2023, which is the deadline given by NAHCON to all the states for remittance.
The commissioner, who further admonished the intending pilgrims not to be despaired of the reality on ground but rather see it as the wish of Allah, prayed Allah to assist them in actualising their dream of performing the holy pilgrimage in line with the Sunnah (teachings) of the Holy Prophet Mohammad. (SAW).
