The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s City of David parish in Lagos is reportedly currently being audited following the resumption of Pastor Charles Kpandei, who replaced Pastor Idowu Iluyomade.

This was made known in a report by the Church Times, which also disclosed that Pastor Kpandei resumed at the City of David parish on Sunday.

“On resumption, Kpandei first introduced himself to the church and then preached on the subject of heaven,” the Church Times said.

“Pastor Kpandei urged members to welcome one another to church during the second service of the City of David.

“Are you really happy to be in church today? For those of you who are just coming for the second service, it is important to tell you that I am called Pastor Charles Kpandei.

“You need that name because you are going to tell somebody that on behalf of Pastor Charles Kpandei, you are welcome to church today.”

According to the report, Kpandei, before going to the main message, prayed that God would remember the City of David for good with the pastor also quoting Nehemiah 13 verse 14.

Meanwhile, the Church Times revealed that the parish is being audited by a notable audit firm amid an alleged N320 million debt, after Iluyomade was suspended.

Iluyomade was reportedly suspended by the Governing Council of the church on June 1, 2024, with his suspension set to run for three months.

According to the report, a panel was also set up to investigate some of the allegations made against Iluyomade and the City of David parish.

“A top pastor in the church said the decision to suspend Iluyomade was a response to the public outcry against the extravagant birthday party of his wife shortly after the death of former CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe,” the report read in part.

Iluyomade, who is also the head of the Apapa Family of the RCCG, had thrown a lavish party in the United Kingdom (UK) to celebrate his wife, Siju’s 60th birthday in March.

The birthday party was organized only one week after the tragic demise of Wigwe, his wife, son, and one other person in a helicopter crash in the United States (US).
