Pedophile gets life sentence for assaulting 276 children in a year
A notorious pedophile has been jailed for life after he was found guilty of assaulting 276 children in a year, in Columbia.
The 37-year-old convict identified as, Juan Carlos Sanchez Latorre, was dubbed the ‘Big Bad Wolf, which was the alias he used to share images and videos of abuse he sold online.
According to Mail Online, he had been on the run for five years until he was arrested in Venezuela with a fake identity card a year ago. He was then extradited back to Colombia to face trial where he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing 276 boys and girls, all 14 years old or under.
Colombian prosecutors said the period of abuse took place over 12 months between 2007 and 2008.
Prosecutors also said he approached his victims online and met them at shopping centres, offering them money and sweets in exchange for sex, before abusing them at his home.
El Heraldo Newspaper reported that Sanchez Latorre raped his victims then photographed and recorded them to sell the images online outside Colombia, newspaper, reports.
The authorities’ confirmed that the ages of the abused children ranged from eight to 14 years old, with one of his later victims being a 14-month-old baby, according to local media.
They also believe he committed other crimes in Venezuela before being finally arrested in the city of Maracaibo and extradited.
Sanchez Latorre was sentenced to 60 years in prison at a court in the city of Barranquilla, the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office said on Twitter yesterday.
