Petrol: Be Moderate With Your Price – Showunmi Tells Dangote
A public affairs analyst, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has applauded the Dangote Refinery following the presentation of the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), aka Petrol, from the 650,000-capacity refinery.
Showunmi said the feat has ended “the shame and burden which Nigerians have carried for too long.”
Daily Trust reports that the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on Tuesday presented the first sample of Dangote Refinery petrol in a broadcast at his refinery situated in the Ibeju-Lekki Area of Lagos State.
He also said that his refinery will meet the demands of not only Nigerians but also sub-Saharan Africa.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for making the dream of local petrol refining possible.
In a statement made available to our correspondent shortly after the presentation, Showunmi eulogised the founder for “redeeming our pride as black people, as humans capable of contributing value and engaging in the activities that others do… With the coming onstream of the PMS from your Dangote Refinery.”
The former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, however, urged him to be moderate in the pricing of the product.
He said “A grateful nation thanks you. As a pan-Nigerian Patriot, I thank you from the depth of my soul for the shame that had gone on for too long.
“You must try as much as possible to be moderate in your pricing because our people have borne such a heavy burden for so long, I get sustainable pricing but ensure that the markup takes into consideration our people.
“You come from a long-standing historical business family from the great Alhassan your great-grandfather to Sanusi your grandfather to your beloved father Aminu Dangote, not leaving out your supportive mother Hajia Mariya, whose stories of charity and zakat I was told way back in 1998/1999 by locals in Kano.
“Profit is good but nationalism, patriotism and empathy must be your guide. Oh, Our Creator blesses and preserves Dangote Refinery, The Workers, and all that have dealings with it. Let this effort be preserved, let it grow from strength to strength. As you have preserved Rockefeller does preserve and sustain Aliko Dangote for generations.
“Now let the giant called Nigeria awake, stand up and take its rightful place in the comity of nations.”
