Plateau: 48 Persons Killed In Three Weeks
No fewer than 48 persons were killed within three weeks in Riyom, Jos South and Bokkos local government areas of Plateau state.
Stakeholders and residents expressed concern over the development, describing the situation as worrisome.
On July 10, no fewer than three herders were attacked and killed while rearing cattle around Nukur village of Jos South local government area of the state.
Daily Trust reports that on July 14, gunmen attacked Gwon village in Riyom community, killing at least three farmers.
Our correspondent reports that 27 persons were killed in an early morning attack , on July 15, 2025, in Tahoss community of Riyom local government area. Many persons were also reportedly wounded in the attack.
The attackers of the July 15 also set several houses ablaze in the area.
Nine days after, another deadly attack was launched on moving vehicle along Chirang -Milbakwai road where 14 passengers were reportedly killed and three others injured. The victims were returning home from Bokkos weekly market.
Our correspondent reports that the 15 passengers, including five men and ten women, were residents of Chirang and Milbakwai communities, all in Bokkos LGA .
According to residents, the incessant attacks are an indication of security gaps and the safety risks bedeviling the state. (Daily trust)
