The Lagos police command says it has revised the timing for vehicular and waterway movement restrictions ahead of the LG elections scheduled for July 12.
On Wednesday, the command said vehicular movement would be restricted across Lagos from 3 am to 3 pm on Saturday, noting that the restriction applies to all roads and waterways in the state.
But a statement on Thursday by Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said movement would now be restricted from 6 am to 3 pm, as against the initial announcement.
“The Lagos state police command wishes to inform the general public of an adjustment to the previously announced restriction of vehicular and waterway movement for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, across the 20 local government areas (LGAs) and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos state,” the statement reads.
“To alleviate the problem of residents with critical medical emergencies and appointments, and those with long-standing international travel plans in and out of the country, the restriction of vehicular movement is hereby readjusted to commence at 6:00am and end at 3:00pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025, and not from 3am as earlier announced.
“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with and respect the new timing.”
Olohundare Jimoh, the Lagos commissioner of police, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to a peaceful electoral process and urged residents to support security efforts and report suspicious activity via emergency lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.
