The Lagos police command has arrested a security guard at Greater Scholars International School identified as David over an alleged defilement of a four-year-old pupil.
The school is located in the Lekki axis of Lagos state.
On Friday, a Twitter user — Omolomo — tweeted that a security guard in the school allegedly raped a pupil.
The Twitter user accused the school management of threatening the victim’s parents.
The alleged sexual assault was said to have happened on the school premises.
Reacting to the tweet, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said the suspect is already in custody.
The Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Agency (DSVA), in a statement, said the Ajiwe police station has been alerted to commence an investigation.
The agency said the suspect will be charged to court on Monday.
“On May 3rd, 2023, we received a report of this case through our toll-free line and acted promptly by referring the child for medical and psychosocial support,” the statement reads.
“We also alerted the Ajiwe FSU Police Division for investigation. The suspect is currently in police custody.
“The case would be transferred to Gender, Lagos State Police Command before it is charged to court on Monday.(today)”
