President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Samson Ayokunle, has said CAN will mobilise all Christians in the country to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023 and that the body will also reject a Muslim/ Muslim or Christian/ Christian ticket.
He solicited for the support and unity of Christian political leaders across the six geo-political zones to bring the vision to reality Rev. Ayokunle disclosed this on Sunday in Jos during an interview with journalists after a church sermon he preached on a theme “Defeating your enemies through the power of unity”, which was held at COCIN Church Rahwol Kanang, Jos, Plateau State.
The CAN President cautioned the political parties in the country against heating up the polity with either Christian/Christian ticket or Muslim/ Muslim presidential ticket come the 2023 general election.
“Christian politicians should brace up and make themselves available for leadership, it is time. A Muslim is getting out of office and in a country where God has naturally divided us into hundreds of millions, then a Christian politician should be ready to take over leadership.

He emphasized that united Christians in Nigeria stand, divided they fall, adding that Christians have the population that outsmart the number of votes President Muhammadu Buhari garnered in the 2019 election.
