Presidency confirms appointment of Tinubu’s Aide-De-Camp as monarch in Kwara
The Presidency has officially announced the appointment of President Bola Tinubu’s Aide-De-Camp, Lt Col. Nurudeen Yusuf, as the new Elemona of Ilemona land in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The appointment follows the passing of his father, the late Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, who served as the former Elemona until his death in May.
The decision to install Lt Col. Yusuf as the new traditional ruler was made by the community’s kingmakers.
The community has expressed high regard for Lt Col. Yusuf, citing his acts of kindness and humanitarian contributions to the area over recent years.
A statement from the Presidency stated that Lt Col. Yusuf, being the heir apparent, had received the necessary authorization from the Nigerian army’s traditional, customs, and ethical standards to accept the role.
The Kwara State Governor’s approval and the state’s traditional council of chiefs’ ratification have been obtained. Lt Col. Yusuf will be presented with the staff of office by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Upon his installation, His Royal Highness, Oba Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, Fiwadade Ilufemiloye Oyekanmi the Second, the Elemona of Ilemona land, will appoint regents to the throne until he retires from military service, the Presidency confirmed on Friday.
