President Tinubu Arrives Brazil for G20 Summit


Barely five days after his return from Saudi Arabia, President Bola Tinubu had landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ahead of the 19th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Group of 20 (G20).

Arriving on Sunday at 11.03 p.m. local time, (Monday at 3:03 am Nigerian time), President Tinubu was received by Ambassador Breno Costa in the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil.

President Tinubu was joined on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, and the Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture and Creativity, Hannatu Musawa.

At Rio de Janeiro, the president is expected to hold some bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.

These meetings, Politics Nigeria gathered will focus on the advancement of Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms.

The summit, themed, “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” will focus on three dimensions of sustainable development, economic, social, and environmental, and the reform of global governance.

The 2024 G20 summit is hosted by Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, Lula da Silva who has held the group’s rotating presidency since December 21, 2023.

Da Silva’s tenure will end by November 30.
