PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST COVID-19, DG TELLS CORPS MEMBERS

Corps Members have been advised to adhere strictly to all the safety protocols of COVID-19 and also maintain good personal hygiene.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim stated this today while addressing Corps Members deployed to Nasarawa State currently undergoing Orientation Course at NYSC Orientation Camp Magaji Dan Yamusa Keffi.

He said the prevalence of new variants of the deadly pandemic has necessitated the need for more vigilance and continuous usage of nose masks, washing of hands, social distancing, application of sanitizer among others.

Ibrahim added that COVID-19 vaccines would soon be made available to Corps Members in Orientation Camps while he urged them to present themselves for vaccination.

“Don’t endanger yourselves, take advantage of the vaccine and you must take responsibility.”

“Get yourself vaccinated to protect yourself and others.”

“Obey the pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical safety protocols of COVID-19,” he added.

He advised them to avoid misconduct during the service year and abide by NYSC Bye-Laws, adding that every infraction would attract disciplinary action.

The Director-General also warned that no Corps Employer has the right to grant Corps Members permission to travel, but when it becomes necessary to travel, they must obtain approval from the NYSC.

Speaking further, lbrahim cautioned the Corps Members against embarking on night journeys which can expose them to dangers on the highways.

He specifically warned the female Corps Members to live responsibly and avoid being wayward.

“Let the spirit of NYSC live in you. Stay safe and serve as responsible leaders in your respective environments. You must also obey the rules and regulations in your Place of Primary Assignments,” the DG concluded.

While in camp, the Director-General took time to see the progress of work at the on-going multi-million naira Corps Members Hostel project.
