Protesters Besiege Buhari’s House In Daura, Katsina State
Angry protesters in Daura, Katsina State have besieged the residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
They urged him to speak on the lingering economic hardship in the country worsened by the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.
This happened on Thursday.
An eyewitness told Channels Television on Saturday that the protesters barricaded the major road leading to Mai-adua- Kwangwalam and Daura as well as the T-junction leading to Buhari’s residence.
The protesters, according to the eyewitness’s name withheld, were in their numbers, chanting ‘Bamayi’ meaning ‘We are not in support’ and ‘Adalci Mukeso’ meaning ‘We need justice,’ burnt tyres as well to show their anger level.
He explained that the protesting youths eventually submitted a letter of their grievances to the former president’s aide for onward delivery to Buhari.
There was a heavy security presence around the former President’s house during the protest before a curfew was finally imposed by the Katsina State Government across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state to maintain law and order.(Channels TV)
