Recall Threat: ‘I’m too busy for frivolities’ – Kaduna Senator replies elders
Senator Lawal Usman (Kaduna Central), has rebuffed the Kaduna Elders Forum (KEF) over its call for his recall from the National Assembly, citing alleged non-performance.
Senator Usman, popularly known as ‘Senator LA’, criticized the KEF for issuing another recall threat just months after a similar one.
In a statement titled “Kaduna Elders’ Forum’s Infantile Outbursts: Empty Barrel Making the Most Noise,” Senator Usman dismissed the KEF’s accusations as baseless and labeled the group “meddlesome interlopers” undeserving of serious attention.
As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary) and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Financial Matters—both critical to national development—Senator Usman stated that he had no time for what he described as frivolous arguments by individuals pursuing selfish political agendas.
He accused the KEF and its sponsors of spreading deliberate misinformation about his work and claimed that his achievements over the past 18 months were visible and measurable. According to him, these critics have resorted to “childish tantrums” instead of seeking accurate information on his performance.
The senator recalled a similar recall threat issued last year under the banner of the Kaduna Peace and Tranquility Forum (KPTF). He mocked the group’s rebranding as KEF and described the repeated threats as laughable and insincere.
Senator Usman urged the people of Kaduna Central not to be misled by what he called falsehoods from the KEF. He questioned the morality of the group, accusing it of serving the interests of political sponsors rather than genuinely representing the constituents.
Finally, the senator called on his constituents to remain calm and disregard the KEF’s provocative statements and recall threats, asserting that they deserve no more than disdain.
