Retrace your steps – NADECO tells anti-inauguration elements

The National Democratic Coalition Renewal Group has urged those behind the plot to derail the inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on May 29 to retrace their steps.

The group, in a statement by the National Secretary, Dr. Afolabi Taiwo and the National Public Relation Officer, Prof. Prof Adelani Tijani, said it was important for those behind the plot to rethink in the overall interest of the country.

NADECORG gave the advice on the heels of the alarm raised by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Akali Baba that some anti-democratic tendencies are plotting to subvert the May 25 transfer of power.

But reacting, the NADECORG said that no amount of threat would stop the transfer of power and declared those who are not satisfied with the outcome of the January 25 presidential poll should approach the court and stop heating up the polity.

The group lauded the military for the timely response to the alleged enemies of democracy who are determined to take Nigeria back to Egypt.

He urged Nigerians to be vigilant and resist any attempt by some aggrieved politicians and their cohorts to drag the country back to another tragic political era of undemocratic rule that left the nation battered.

Parts of the statement read: “While we salute the efforts of both the military and the Directorate of State Service (DSS) for their timely ND patriotic response, we urged them not to relent in their efforts at securing the country and also making May 29 handover a reality.

“We urged the people not to allow some selfish, greedy and unpatriotic elements who place their selfish interests above the popular and patriotic interests of the nation, to truncate this transition process and plunge our dear nation into a chao.”
