Rivers crisis: ‘He’ll soon regret supporting Tinubu’ — Charly Boy taunts Wike
Charly Boy, the ace singer, has described Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), as the “mistake maker of the century”.
Before becoming a minister, Wike was the former governor of Rivers state.
Last week, the minister said he regrets supporting Siminalayi Fubara to succeed him as the state governor. He also apologised for backing the new governor and asked God to forgive him.
Wike and Fubara have been locked in a battle for the political structure of Rivers since 2023.
The rift between both men has led to a polarisation of the Rivers house of assembly — with each camp electing a speaker loyal to either man.
Reacting to the crisis in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Charly Boy made a list of what he claimed to be Wike’s “political mistakes” since 2017.
He argued that the minister “will soon make another mistake for supporting” President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
“I made a mistake in 2016 by supporting Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as PDP National Chairman. I made another mistake in 2017 by supporting Prince Uche Secondus as PDP National Chairman,” he wrote.
“I made another mistake for supporting Tambuwal for PDP ticket in 2019. I made yet another mistake in 2021 by supporting Senator lyorchia Ayu as PDP National Chairman.
“And most recently, I made a mistake in 2023 by supporting Sir Sim Fubara as my successor.
“I know very soon he will make another mistake for supporting Tinubu in 2023.
“Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the mistake maker of the century. Yeye dey smell.” (The Cable)
