Rivers man stabs friend to death over missing phone
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man identified simply as Michael for allegedly stabbing his friend, Uchenna, to death over a missing phone.
Saturday PUNCH gathered that Michael accused Uchenna of stealing his phone, leading to a heated altercation that escalated into violence.
The incident occurred on Egede Street in the Mile 2 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Wednesday.
A source told our correspondent that Michael’s phone went missing during Uchenna’s visit.
The source said, “Michael accused Uchenna of stealing his phone, but Uchenna denied the allegation, leading to a heated argument. As the fight escalated, Michael picked up a jackknife and allegedly stabbed Uchenna in the stomach.
“Uchenna was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead, while Michael was later arrested by the police.”
Confirming the incident to Saturday PUNCH on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, said, “The suspect has been arrested, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.” (Punch)
