The Senate has constituted an 18-member committee saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the activities of the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd).
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced this during the resumption of plenary on Tuesday.
He said the committee was constituted in a bid to strengthen transparency and accountability in the governance of the state.

The President made the declaration in a nationwide broadcast, and appointed, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) as sole administrator.
The President said the decision was taken to restore stability in the state that had been witnessing political crisis.
But one of the governance decisions taken by Ibas that attracted criticisms was the appointment of local government sole administrators.
Akpabio named Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) as chairman of the committee to monitor Ibas’ administration.
He also highlighted the importance of the committee’s mandate, stating that its role is critical in ensuring effective legislative oversight in Rivers State. Akpabio also hinted that the composition of the committee might be subject to review following further consultations.
Akpabio charged the committee to commence its oversight immediately. He stressed the urgency of their assignment, adding that the Senate was committed to upholding the democratic processes in Rivers State.
Members of the committee are Senators Adamu Aliero, Osita Izunaso, Osita Ngwu, Kaka Shehu, Aminu Abass, Tokunbo Abiru, Adeniyi Adebire, Sani Musa, Simon Lalong, and Asuquo Ekpeyong.
Also Senators Adams Oshiomhole, Ireti Kingibe, Idiat Adebule, Ide Dafinone, and others alongside the Clerk of the Senate are members of the committee.
