Cristiano Ronaldo headed Manchester United to victory over Atalanta on Wednesday as the Red Devils came from behind to win 3-2 at Old Trafford.

Atalanta shocked the capacity filled Old Trafford Stadium with two quick goals in the first half as United seemed to have no answer.

The Red Devils made amend in the second half scoring three goals from the boots of Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Ronaldo.

Mario Pasalic opened scoring for the visitors on 15 minutes.

Davide Zappacosta was in a good shooting position, but he saw his teammate and passed the ball to him. Mario Pasalic took it nicely and beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot into the bottom left corner.

Atalanta doubled their lead on 29 minutes from a corner kick.

The corner was whipped in and Merih Demiral was in the right place at the right time, planting his header perfectly into the left side of the goal.

Marcus Rashford pulled one back for United as he received a killer-pass, found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and drilled the ball into the bottom left corner.

Harry Maguire equalised for United on 75 minutes, as he latched onto a cross in the penalty area and fired the ball into the bottom right corner.

Then comes Ronaldo on 81 minutes. Ronaldo found space in the box and from close range powered an unstoppable header into the right of the goal after a cheeky lofted pass from Luke Shaw.

United now top Group F with six points.
