Royal wedding cancelled due to coronavirus lockdown: Princess Beatrice’s nuptials officially off
The royal wedding of Princess Beatrice and her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The UK government recently extended the coronavirus lockdown for ‘at least’ three weeks. It comes as the UK recorded another 861 coronavirus deaths in hospital, taking the total to 13,729.
This has affected the wedding of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, which was previously scheduled to take place on the 29th of May, in London.
The couple revealed the sad news in an official statement made available to PEOPLE magazine, the statement read;
“There are no plans to switch venues or hold a bigger wedding. They aren’t even thinking about their wedding at this time. There will come a time to rearrange, but that’s not yet.”
The bride-to-be and her Italian partner had planned a low-key affair at St James’s Palace in London, followed by a reception at The Queen’s gardens in Buckingham Palace.
But due to the coronavirus outbreak, the whole affair has been scrapped altogether.
